About Malaysia Travel PlanMalaysia Travel Plan is a small specialist internet based Malaysia tour operator, offering you a unique way of travelling around Malaysia and Borneo. Travel exactly how you want to, when you want to. Our Malaysia travel specialists will help you build your own trip, handing you complete control of your holiday. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service levels which continue throughout the life of your booking.Malaysia Travel Plan is part of Rickshaw Travel, an online adventure tour operator made by travellers for travellers. It is born out of the idea that there are hardly any independent travel options available for more adventurous travellers. Our trips are very individual, so we're able to use small-scale, authentic accommodation with local character and warm welcomes. With Rickshaw Travel, you won't find large group coach tours but instead you'll travel by trains, buses, private car, planes, and sometimes minibus. Flexibility and independence are fundamental, which is why we organise as much or as little as our clients wish. We also like to give something back to local communities, which is why we sponsor various charity projects. See our responsible travel page for more information. We're able to keep our prices low because we don't produce flashy brochures or run luxury shops. However you're more than welcome to visit our Malaysia specialists during your travel planning! We are based in Brighton, on the South Coast and we're the sister company of round the world specialists, Travel Nation. |
Arida AdamouMalaysia Travel SpecialistI have visited West Malaysia (the Malaysian peninsula)a couple of times. My first visit was back in 1994 when I travelled slowly overland from Thailand down to Singapore. If you have the time Malaysia is worth so much more than a brief stop-over in Kuala Lumpur. I had a great time exploring Penang with friends and sampling lots of spicy and exotic food. The old china town was very atmospheric and Georgetown had a kind of faded grandeur and felt very Chinese. The beaches of Tioman Island and the Perhentian islands were quite unspoilt and the Cameron Highlands were lush and green with a cooler climate, a relaxed pace of life and strawberries were on the menu! The people were very welcoming and friendly everywhere we went. Next time I really want to head over to ‘the other side’ to Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak) and perhaps have a go at climbing Mount Kinabalu and see some exotic jungle creatures. |

Natasha PageMalaysia travel specialistI first travelled to Malaysia in 2006 as part of a 3 month trip through South-East Asia. After travelling through Thailand, I reached Malaysia by train and went straight to the beaches of the Perhentian islands. I then explored the jungle of Taman Negara and then bustling Kuala Lumpur, before heading down to Singapore. One of the most memorable things about Kuala Lumpur for me was discovering the amazing Indian canteens in Chinatown. Although not too impressive from the outside, you can get a full plate of delicious, fresh Malaysian Indian food for about 80 pence. Delicious. Other highlights of my time in Malaysia were sipping Chai at a railway station cafe, taking in the amazing panoramic views over Taman Negara, and snorkelling with turtles on the Perherntians. |
Sarah PooleyMalaysia travel specialistMy passion for travel first began after studying for my Geography and Tourism degree at University. Completing my course, gave me the desire to go off and explore all the countries that I had been learning about and experience the variety of cultures and ways of life first hand. After saving up I set off on a 6 month adventure around South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. During my trip I completed a couple of Volunteer Projects along the way in Malaysia and Borneo including looking after Orang-utans and Chimpanzees. I will never forgot the times that I had whilst I was away, with countless highlights of my trip. My best experiences were trekking in search for wild Orang-utans hiding in the jungle canopies above us and staying with a local tribes to learn their cultures and crafts... and not forgetting indulging in the rice wine! |

Haydn WrathManaging DirectorMalaysia Travel Plan is run by Haydn Wrath.I left the University of East Anglia in 1984 and escaped what seemed a very grim England by spending the rest of the 1980s travelling and working round the world. During this time I put in some usual stints as an English teacher in Tokyo, a landscape gardener in Sydney and a tarmac layer's assistant in Alaska. In 1990, I joined Bridge the World Travel Centre in London as manager of the World-wide department, where I was able to put my degree in Politics and Philosophy to good use. I fulfilled my ambition to set up a specialist travel company in 2001 when I founded Travel Nation, and later in 2006 set up Malaysia Travel Plan. I have visited Malaysia many times over the last couple of decades and am always utterly charmed by the people and the atmosphere there. Malaysia has so much going for it that it really can be all things to all people. Also of course, in common with so many other visitors, when in Malaysia, I am in food paradise...especially those Roti's they do ... |
