No Worries on Pulau Lang Tengah

Route: Merang - Lang Tengah - Merang

Of the three islands along the north-east coast, Pulau Lang Tengah is the most quiet – and least touristy. The reef around the island is a protected nature reserve and offers some of the most fantastic Malaysia snorkelling and diving spots.

On dry land you can go hiking along the trails into the dense jungle of the island’s interior. Such a beautiful island merits equally beautiful accommodation, and in this Malaysia beach trip you’ll be staying in a terraced chalet with all the mod cons. If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all and need little more to keep you happy than peace & quiet in beautiful natural surroundings, you’ll find Lang Tengah is a perfect escape to paradise.

Day 1: Merang - Lang Tengah

It's the first day of your Malaysia beach trip and the crossing from Merang to Pulau Lang Tengah takes about 30 minutes. As you approach the island you’ll understand why it’s called the island for nature lovers; white sands, crystal clear blue sea and tall, waving palm trees. It’s almost too good to be true, but probably exactly how you’d pictured your perfect tropical island getaway. You’ll be staying in a one of a row of four bungalows in the tasteful well-maintained resort. The Malaysian dishes, particularly the fresh fish are amazing which is just as well as there aren’t really any other restaurants on the island.

Day 2 and 3: Lang Tengah

For the next two days of your Malaysia beach holiday, you can enjoy leisurely breakfasts, before wandering over to the lovely beach in front of the resort to feel the soft, warm sand between your toes. Later on take a walk along the beautiful shore line. In front out you the clear blue sea beckons, behind you the dense green jungle awaits. It’s probably the only choice you’ll need to make while you’re on Lang Tengah but seeing as you’ll be here for two whole days you could actually do both. For less than £3 you can book a jungle trip with Daniel, who works at the resort or a half-day Malaysia snorkelling trip for around £5-6.

Day 4: Lang Tengah - End of tour

If your travel plans allow it or if you’d like to end your Malaysia holiday with an extra day on the island just let us know in your quote request form and our Malaysia travel specialists will arrange it for you. If today’s the last day of your Malaysia beach holiday, you’ll take the boat back to Merang, or perhaps one of the other islands for example with our Malaysia islands tour.

For more tropical island delights, you could hop on a boat to begin our Perhentian trip or if you’d like to experience some traditional Malaysian culture, if you'd like to really exerience Malaysia you can spend a couple of days as part of a local kampung community with our Malaysia homestay.

Money matters
There are no cash machines on the islands so make sure you withdraw plenty of cash on the mainland. Most resorts and diving schools accept credit card.

Alcohol
The more traditional east coast Malaysians don’t always appreciate the use of alcohol by tourists, though on the islands, the larger resorts and a couple of restaurants alcohol is available. When you’re in public, please respect the locals and their values.
