Malaysia accommodation

Whether you build your own trip using our bite-sized Malaysia tours or choose from our suggested holidays in Malaysia, during your travels you'll stay in accommodation that reflects the character of your surroundings. You'll experience a wide variety of styles and standards of Malaysia accommodation, for example you might spend a night in a lodge in a tropical rainforest, with a local family, or in a comfy cabin on a tropical island.

We use a hand-picked selection of authentic hotels with lots local character, and therefore steer clear of international chains. We personally ensure that each property has the right combination of features such as cleanliness, location, friendly staff and good service. We're confident that you'll enjoy our Malaysia accommodation options just as much as our previous customers.

We use a pool of Malaysia accommodation in each destination, which means that if one hotel is full, we are able to offer another of equal standard. Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send you a comprehensive list of the hotels you'll be staying in.

Special Stay Accommodation
- Category 4

Location and comfort are the two most important factors when selecting suitable resorts for this accommodation category. Our choice of resorts in this category are priced slightly higher than our standard accommodation but it offers you something extra special.

Our special stay accommodation offers you either a unique view of your surroundings or a little something extra in terms of atmosphere or quality of facilities. We can upgrade in most of the beach resorts including Tioman island, where you can stay at the Japamala Boutique Resort which is only accessible by boat. Our beach resort on Borneo just outside Kota Kinabalu is another option in this category.

Comfortable Accommodation
- Category 3
Standard for Malaysia Travel Plan

A warm and inviting atmosphere, small scale charm, cleanliness and a favourable location are our top priorities for this category and this includes most of the accommodation that we offer. A sense of privacy and some comfort are also important during travel, so we'll book a private room with an en-suite bathroom for you as well.

You can expect a mid-range wooden bungalow as on our Perhentians trip or a kampung cottage, usually air-conditioned. Sometimes you will also find a swimming pool on the premises.

Simple accommodation
- Category 2

Sometimes, when deciding where to stay in Malaysia, there aren't too many options, or accommodation isn't as important as what you'll experience when you step out of the door. Our simple accommodation category offers you modest, yet reasonably comfortable accommodation options.

When you take our Borneo trip you'll spend the night in a lodge on the banks of the Kinabatangan River. Although the rooms are simple, they have the necessary amenities. Similarly, during our Borneo adventure at Bako National Park you'll spend the night in a simple wooden jungle chalet. If you choose to book our Malaysia experience, your first night with your hosts will also fall into this category.

Basic Accommodation
- Category 1

In this category you really will be going back to basics! When you are on our Borneo trek you will be spending the night in a traditional longhouse. You will be sleeping on a mattress on the floor with a mosquito net. The bathrooms and showers are shared with other travellers. However, spending the night in a longhouse gives you a real insight into the lifestyle of the Iban jungle tribe and although basic, it really is an experience!

Another example of our basic accommodation is the night you will spend in a lightweight tent in the jungle during our Endau Rompin nature trail. Although your lodging is quite basic, the location in the jungle can't be beaten.
