Malaysia car hire - terms and conditions and additional fees

Below please find the original terms & conditions as provided by our local car hire agent.

RATES INCLUSIVE:

5. OTHER MISCELLANEOUS CHARGES - ADD. DRIVER/ BABY SEAT

Vehicle Availability:
Please take note that Reservations will be confirmed by vehicle group only and not by a particular vehicle model within the group. However, every effort will be made to provide a client with a preferred model/type as requested.

Insurance:
Rates include coverage of RM3 million for third party damage, unlimited for third party death of bodily injury. The Hirer is obliged to promptly report any accident, theft or vandalism involving the hired vehicle to a Hawk Office and a police report lodged pertaining to the accident within 24 hours. Failure to comply with the above requirement will void all liability protection for damages.
Cover for the loss of the all liability protection for damages. Cover the loss of the vehicle by fire and thefts are included together with cover for damages to the vehicle.
The above liability may be reduced to a Non Waivable Excess amount as indicated below for the respective grouping of vehicles, and the amount will be the responsibility of the Hirer :
RM 800.00 for groups A to D
RM 1200.00 for group DA & E
RM 1500.00 for group F
RM 2500.00 for group G
RM 3000.00 for group J

Upon acceptance of Excess Reduction Fees (ERF) at the rates appended. (Refer to terms & conditions of rental on the reverse of the Hiring Agreement). The Hirer agrees to be responsible for the Non Waivable Excess amount as described above.
Missing items or accessories are not protected by our insurance or by purchase of "ERF" and will be the responsibility of the Hirer, i.e. Radio Cassette, Hubcaps, CD, Tools or any other accessory fitted on the vehicle.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) provides coverage of RM125,000.00 at RM8.00 per day. For vehicle Groups A to E and RM15.00 per day for vehicle Group F to J. The coverage is extended for injuries sustained inside or outside the vehicle, during the agreed period of the hire, for the hirer and passengers (maximum of 5 (five) for saloon vehicles and 7 (seven) for MPV's).

Driver's License and Age:
The Hirer and any additional driver must be a minimum of 23 years of age, for groups B to DA and 30 years and above for group E and above, with a license which is at least 2 years in force, recognized and valid within Malaysia.

Parking & Traffic Fines and Fees:
All parking fees and traffic fines will be the responsibility of the Hirer.

Baby Seat :
RM 15.00 per day / Maximum RM50.00 per rental. ( subjected to 5% GST)

Inter-city Rentals:
A Hirer may return a rented vehicle at any Hawk rental station within Peninsular Malaysia for an intercity charge, based on the type of vehicle. An additional surcharge of RM52.50-RM157.50 may be imposed for returns before 0800 hours and after 1900 hours. In towns or cities where Hawk is not represented, a re-positioning fee will be levied to reposition the vehicle back to the nearest Hawk station (see Delivery & Collection chart). Vehicles rented from Hawk Subang or KL City and wanting to return to KL International Airport will incur an Airport return charge of RM35.00.

Vehicle Usage:
Hirers are not permitted to drive the vehicle into Thailand and Singapore. However should a vehicle enter SINGAPORE the Hirer will be fully responsible for all fees as imposed by the Land Transport Authority(LTA) of Singapore and Hawk reserves the right to charge any fines or compound charges resulting from any non-compliance of the road transport rules of Singapore to the hirer. A vehicle returned in Singapore will incur a repositioning of RM 350.00.

Delivery and Collection:
For delivery or collection to towns where a HAWK office is not located, a delivery or collection fee will be imposed. the charges as appended below:

A minimum surcharge of RM52.50-RM157.50 will apply if pick up, drop off, delivery or collection before 0800hrs and after 1900hrs. A delivery or collection fee will be imposed on the Hirer for delivery or collection of a vehicle to a Hotel or any address outside a 5km radius of the Rental station. For pick up, drop off, delivery or collections at Airport locations before and after the operating hrs, a MINIMUM surcharge of RM52.50 will be levied. Delivery and Collection from LCCT will be RM35.00 if within office hours.
Malaysia Delivery and Collection Charges Estimates

Excess Hours:
The rates are based on a 24 hours basis, and should the rental at the time of return incur excess hours, the charge will be 1/5th of the applicable rate. A grace period of one hour will be extended to the Hirer. If excess hours exceed more than 5 hours, an additional days charge will aplly.

Petrol:
All vehicles leave our premises with a FULL tank of petrol, which is to be refueled at the Hirer's expense upon return, failure to do so, the Hirer will be charged the cost of refueling, plus a surcharge of an additional 20% of the refueled amount.

Additional Driver's Surcharge:
RM5.00 per additional driver per rental day. A flat rate of RM15.00 per rental if more than 3 additional drivers, irrespective of rental length.

Extension of Rental:
Should the hirer wish to extend the rental, it is important that the renting station be advised immediately and the required additional rental deposit paid, so that the insurance cover is extended to cover the additional days. Failure to do so may mean that the hirer is driving the vehicle without any insurance coverage and is in effect unauthorized to be in possession of the vehicle.

Terms of Payment:
We accept all major credit cards i.e. Amex, Diners, Visa and Mastercard. Imprinting of the Hirer's card on the rental agreement shall be sufficient in directing credit charges. Any credit extended to a corporate organization must be supported by a letter of authorization and/or a purchase order or purchase requisition. The estimated full value of the rental will be charged to the card upon collection of the vehicle and a separate charge slip is to be signed by the hirer for any other miscellaneous or excess charges, upon return of the vehicle

Service Tax:
All rentals are subject to a 5% Government Service Tax, imposed with effect from 1st January 1998. (Details of the above are available at the rental counter).
